Burlington Berry Dairy Day parade, What? One of the kids and one of the dogs are in the parade? There goes this weekends fishing trip. I wonder if there is a group for fishaholics going through withdrawal, maybe a ten step program or something. Three weeks! I don’t think that since I turned 10 years old or so (which I might mention was 40 years ago) that I have gone 3 weeks without some sort of finned pursuit. Oh well, someday the kids will look at these times and know that we supported their activities…or not.
Burlington Berry Dairy Days is a family-friendly festival and was established in 1937 by the Burlington Fire Dept. It is a celebration of Burlington’s farming heritage. Celebration or not, apparently my schedule was not considered when planning this year’s event. I had planned to fish all weekend. Friday afternoon was scheduled for last minute trip planning, loading the boat and getting the gear ready. Saturday, we had planned to fish for sturgeon and Sunday a family day picnic and kokanee fest was on tap. My new schedule is as follows:
|
Friday, June 19th
5pm
Kiwanis Salmon BBQ, I wonder if they will let me use my drift fishing rig to hook and serve my portion?
7:30pm
Tractor Parade, old and new tractors will be motoring their way down Fairhaven Ave to Skagit park.
7pm

the family friendly band-Buckaroo Blues and food

There’s no such thing as a free child.). OK, I concede not all bad, more salmon and strawberry shortcake…mmmm. Maybe I’ll have to watch fishing videos Saturday night.
unday, June 21
10am-3pm
Berry Cool Car Show
Between 150-200 decked out vehicles will be lined up along Fairhaven Avenue.
What’s next? A HARVEST FESTIVAL AND PUMPKIN PITCH? Normally I can get out during the week but we are buried at work so I have to wait for the weekend. WEEKEND! Cool its only 7 days away.
