Went up to baker yesterday morning and launched at the dam, man was it foggy. Got turned and lost a couple times. Came along another boater who gave up and was waiting for more visability. Luckely he had a compass so I asked him which way was north and went on my way. Came out of the fog at the point before the upper lake and was able to get up to silver creek quickly. Fished below and infront of silver creek all morning. Got 4 fish with the smiley blade rig and two on a pink hoochie. My friend insisted he stick it out with the hoochie even after I got my limit with the smiley blade set up in 40 minutes. everywhere was out of sandshrimp so I had to try cured soon shrimp today, which seemed to work great. I would cut the head off and straiten the body as much as I could and then cut part of the tail off leaving the remaining section to go on the hook. All 6 fish were hooked at 30ft. The bite was furious between 530 and 7 then died quite a bit. I had another friend up there who was using the same gear as me and was not having the same success. It had to do with speed because I trolled past him a couple times. I wish I new my speed. I have a minnkoda 55thrust and on the settings it goes up to 100 and Im fishing half way at 50, I could swear I was fishing at 25 or 30 last year but it seems like it was too slow. Im thinking my trolling moter or battery has lost a little power. Thanks again to the lost boater who pointed me in a northerly direction.
