fished at the old boat launch, the county watershed. caught one cutthroat about 14 inches. and two blue gills that were guarding their eggs, i guess reds. the weeds are bad there right now and it seems as its fished out. let the bluegills go and they went back to defend their nests from the frys that are like ants that attack the nests as soon as the bluegills dissapear from them. i only saw one trout jump today and i fished for about two hours. i had to use a vary long leader about three and a half feet to get above the weeds. i saw two boats trolling on the lake and didnt see them catch anything. i saw about six people on the dock across the lake from me and didnt see them catch anything either. sombody trashed the old boatlaunch where i fish at this lake and i had to clean up the mess.

I didn't do any fishing today. I was working with the "Cast For Kids" program sponsored by the Poggie Club. It was a wonderful day watching 300 kids catch a fish or 2. For many it was their first fish. I was at the Kiitsap Fly Anglers table tying flies. This is a wonderful program that exposes children to the sport of fishing. Each child went home with a fish or 2 and a new Zebco rod and reel.

A friend and I caught six trout and one large mouth in three hours, while waiting for the crawfish pots. No crawfish in the pots, but I did catch some freshwater Ling.

Decided to head out and try Island for thr first time this year. We met some resistance at the boat launch as a metal post was put in front of it. As far as the fishing went it was very slow and only had a couple bites. I'm disappointed that we the fisherman are being punished for the choices others make by vandelizing the park. You can squeeze around the post with a small truck as my toyota tacoma barely made it. This is a great lake and one of my favorites and should be enjoyed by all without restrictions.

The wife and kids were doing other things, so I decided to get out of the house for some fishing. Didn't really expect to catch anything, but the bite turned on around 3. I missed four, lost one, and finally caught one in forty minutes. Then I missed another. That was a nice surprise. The fish would just take a little line and then drop the bait. The lake was like glass and the sun actually felt a little warm. Will have to try it again.

After working the weekend I wanted to hit the lake. Me and my gf penster30 hit the lake about 1745. I wanted to try out my new koppers live target frog in some lily pads. I gave the rod to my gf and after the 3rd cast the water exploded but the fish missed it. It scared the heck out of her cuz she wasn't expecting that. A couple casts later it was fish on. That was the biggest bass she has caught weighing bout 4.5lbs and 20". It was the only fish she caught and had a couple more strikes. As for me I caught a couple small bass. It was a good couple hours of fishing.

Decided to take the girls down the road a mile to Island Lake on Sunday after our Kids Fishing event on Saturday. We had a good time again on Saturday at the event so I thought "why not" I could use another limit of fish for the smoker. My oldest girl and I caught 5 in about 20 minutes and lost many more. These fish were still hanging around the swimming area. Brought the baby to get her introduced early. Could have stayed for more fish but wanted to leave plenty for all of the other folks to enjoy.

Several of us worked with Cast for Kids today. The Poggie club put together the event. About 300 kids participated and all of the kids caught fish. There were several other fishing clubs that worked with the Poggie club. Long Lake Bass Club and Kitsap Flyfishers Club (the club I belong to). About 1200 fish were planted in the pen. About half were caught with the rest released into the lake. It is always fun to see a child catch their first fish.

I got there with my little sister around 5:30 PM, and, having never fished there before, set up on the bank of the swimming area with her. We saw a few risers but they wouldn't take my Rooster Tail or her power nugget (I think I had it rigged incorrectly, actually). I asked around and found out where the dock was. We walked there, and got there as someone was pulling a little <7 inch rainbow out of the water. They were using Berkley Trout worms about 4 feet off the bottom. I cast my rooster tail around for about half an hour, letting it sink before slowly retrieving it but no luck. Apparently the powerbait nuggets don't float by themselves (my sister had to slowly retrieve hers along the bottom- no luck). I rigged up a green corky on 2 feet of leader with a 5" Luck-E-Strike worm and a couple nuggets. We packed up and left around 7:40. Nobody else got anything, and it was COLD.
