Stayed at the campground and fished this lake for a couple of days. it was hard to get the fish to bite at first. We started to get some bites and ended up landin a 20" steelhead from the small bridge as well as some smaller trout. Had alot of fun. Just beware of the otters though. They stole some trout that we had hangin on a stringer off the side of the dock. The otters are not to be taken lightly here, they will show up and steal your catch the first chance they get...

Myself, girlfriend, and 3 little girls arrived at the lake around 2:30. Bridge was full of people fishing so we went to the playground area and fished in front of there. Used a bobber and gulp corn and hooked into a 10 inch plant within 10 minutes. After that, not a single bite. Used eggs and yellow powerbait and rooster tails. However, people in boats caught some big boys and another person caught one around 5 lbs bottom fishing from the bank.

Got to Sylvia right as the park was opening. Nobody else on the water...absolutely BEAUTIFUL scenery. Set up shop along the shore where we could cast into the deeper hole on teh lake, didn't take long to get the first bite. Lots of top feeding activity. Had alot of success fishing the top with worms...as it got brighter this slowed down. Took the bobber off and let the worm sink, BAM instant hits on the way down. Landed two nice ones within first 30 minutes there. Bite stayed on until about 10 when it stopped all together. A very nice way to start the day

My dad, brother and I went to Sylvia for opening weekend. We caught 8 fish between us for the weekend but the highlight was my accidental monster. We had had a few drinks at our campsite and I decided that I would go cast a line from our campsite which was right on the lake. The first cast I yelled "I got one!". I had no idea the size until I got the fish to shore. I have never caught a fish that I could not lift out of the water with my fishing rod. This one would not come out of the water until my brother grabbed it. As he tried to get the hook out, the fish thrashed and spit the hook. My brother said he could not get halfway around the fish with one hand. It was the biggest trout I have ever caught. My guess is about 2-3 pounds maybe? I was using a rainbow trout Kastmaster. Super fun weekend despite not boating as many fish as we would have liked. Lake Sylvia State Park is an amazing campground with many sites that backup to the lake. We kept our 10 foot livingston in the water the whole weekend and could launch from our site. Will certainly come back. Unfortunately no pictures of the monster.

Started off fishing from the bridge and caught a fish right away. Was kind of windy on the bridge so we moved to a spot someone was vacating right after the bridge on the right. Continued to do well. I caught 3 rainbows 10-12 inches long and my brother caught 4. A great day!

On the water by 6:30 am.Overcast skies, although the clouds burned off later.Surface temp a surprising 67 degrees.Fish spead through the water column from 5 to 30 feet deep.Larger fish holding from 12 feet to 30 feet.Trolled Flatfish and Wooley Buggers for about an hour.Caught three small stockers, all released.Decided to try for the big ones so we anchored in about 27 feet of water and cast night crawlers with no weight towards the deeper part of the lake. After maybe 10 minutes I hooked into a fat 23" rainbow.Didnt put up much of a fight, made one short run and came right to the net.Estimated weight 5 1/2 to 6 pounds.Five minutes later my wife hooked into a fish of the same size.Hers fought a bit harder and snapped the line at the net.I had one more large one on briefly. Was trying out a circle hook that did NOT work as advertised.Caught 4 more small stockers(not pictured)all kept since they were caught on bait. These fish, even the big one had the whitest meat i've ever seen on a trout.Would have rated this trip lower if it wasnt for my biggest fish of the year so far...

Fishing derby was over at noon and the lake was open to all. Lots of stockers caught, some over 10 pounds. taught a family of 5 how to fish and they caught fish after nothing all morning, also taught 3 kids a bottom rig and they caught fish. one sold for 6 dollars. I think they all like the AMVETS 211 now, as we gave out lots of cookies to the kids

Took The wife and Father-in-law to Sylvia this afternoon. The air Temp was around 70 degrees with a very strong wind. We were using chartruese and white power eggs with a 3' leader.
The Wife and Father-in-law caught a few planters, and I missed a few little ones. I only managed to land one fish today. It was an OK fish, 4lb12oz.
It was a great day to be out, even if the fishing was a little slow.
