Fantastic fishing day. Lots of fish, only kept the ones that we hurt. Trolling about any lure worked. Super fun for the kids.

We hit Phillips again this year for the opener. Love this lake, its where we used to fish 30 yrs ago too. still really good to us. String of spoons was productive, solo wedding ring was good. A solo dick nite was good, and the surprise lure was the purple rooster tail. My youngest son pulled it out of his tackle box and said "Dad, I want to try this" So we hooked it right to his swivel. He caught fish consitantly with it, and also caught the biggest fish several times. Great day, we released as many as we kept, if not more. Awesome really.

I wanted to try Phillips for some LMB for the first time this year. Me and my gf arrived at the lake at 0800 with the weather cold and foggy. We started fishing the docks with senkos and a silver rapala xr-8 in silver with no luck. I switched to a drop shot with a 4" cinnamon brown yamamoto kut tail worm and my gf caught a bass with her first cast on a bps xps 4" grub. After a couple casts I saw my line moving and set the hook. The bass was giving my lite action rod and reel with 6lb line a good workout. The bass was 16" and about 3lbs. We continued fish around the lake and caught a few more small bass. My gf caught a 12" rainbow on her grub. The water and jet skiers were out once the fog burned off and were making alot of waves for us. Had alot of fun and will be back again!

After spending a weekend at Ocean Shores, (in which we lost two MONSTER trout at Duck Lake) we hit Phillips on our way back, trying to redeem ourselves. We did somewhat, having about 20 hook-ups, all cookie cutter stockers, about 11 inches. We kept 8 for the fry-pan. Anyone ever fish Lake Wynoochie? Looking for some info on that lake, may want to make a week-end out of it there. TFguy

What an AWESOME day to be out in the water! My girlfriend took the day off and decided to head to Phillips since she's never been there. I had some success fishing for LMB last sep/oct but never fished this lake for trout. We arrived at 0945 and seen a small school of trout swimming at the boat launch. We started fishing the westend of the lake for LMB but didn't have any success. We anchored out and grabbed our trout rods. I was using red power eggs and my girlfriend was using the lime green colored eggs. It didn't matter what color we used because they were biting anything we threw at them. Most of the fish were 10"-13" and were feisty.

On our annual fishing trip / reunion we tried Phillips Lake and had a blast. Before I could even figure out which direction we were going to head from the launch we had a fish on. As the rest of the group got their lines in the water they, too, were catching fish. We had doubles, triples, and even a quad! Saw only one other boat on the lake. Fish were 10" to 13".
Best spot was going past the point on the right side about 100 yards from the dock.

first off, it kinda sucks that you can only post two pics. this report is for the 16th and 17th. went down to my buddy's property on the lake. we got there about 9 am on saturday and started to catch fish off his dock immediatley. caught fish consistently all day up to 15 inches from the dock and in the boat. we took a break and went to get a burger before we tried a little night fishing. had lots of topwater explosions in the dark but only managed to hook up on the one tiny one in the first pic, so that was saturday. today we woke up and made our way through the fog to a good point to start our day. fishing today was slower than saturday but i managed the pig in the second pic. solid 18 1/2 inches and fat. anyway, great late season trip. it exceeded my expectations. sorry no water temp or depths, i left my fish finder at home. all fish caught off of rapalas and jigs. caught and realeased as well.
P.S. how much do yall think the big one wieghs? still to cheap to buy a scale.

I decided to come back to Phillips after having some success last week. I went to the same spot where I caught fish last week. I had my drop shot rig ready for action. The fish weren't in the same spot so I moved a little further south before I got my first fish. The wind was blowing hard like it did last week but I decided to tough it out and keep fishing. I finally landed another fish on the south end of the lake with a 4" black senko near some trees. I had numerous bites on that end of the lake. I switched lures and started using a 5" black Yamamoto grub and started having greater success with the fish. I caught a few small bass by swimming the grub back to the boat. I casted near a dock and saw my line moving so I jerked my rod up and the fight was on. When I saw the fish jump my heart was pounding because it was a hawg. I scrambled to get the net and net it before it can get away. After I got the fish in the boat I had to sit back and take a deep breath. The fish was 20" and about 5lbs. I continued to fish and got a few more bites but no fish. Finally I casted near another dock and got a good bite. To my surprise it was a 17" trout that bit my grub. I had an awesome day even though the weather wasn't great. Can't wait to come back!!
