First time making an entry here and I hope to get better over time :) Fished from my pontoon using sinking line. Tied on a variety of flies (Olive, black Woolly, Woolly worm, the usual suspects). I trolled long stretches and spot cast to the banks and I didn't get a single bite. Started around 09:30 and called it quits around 13:00. There were a few other folks on the lake and they didn't seem to be pulling them in so I didn't feel too bad overall. Wasn't until I got home and checked the WDFW website for Catchable Trout Plant Reports for the lake that I noticed that Lake Goodwin (Snohomish County) has not been planted as of yet. Seems Ki and Shoecraft were though, ought to have tried there. From now on I might check the plant reports before heading out...might increase my chances, might not.

Pretty slow and no pics cause I lost one at the boat and the other nicer one made one last run and my line broke, I hate it when that happens! Must have had a nick from the rocks?.
The only two smallies I encountered and they were from under docks skipping a grub. I also fished cranks out to 16', drop shotted out to 20' and threw spinnerbaits, worms and jerkbaits.

Nothing like some smallies to get the skunk out of the boat! Too bad I could only find 2. The pic fish went 2.2lbs and was the biggest unfortunately. Got that one skipping shallow docks with a Yamamoto grub. Tried drop shotting out to 20 feet, even Lowrance fished for a while to the fish I kept marking suspended off the bottom but not a bite?. The more I ponder it the more I feel these fish are behind due to the weather? They are acting like they should've a month ago! Not normal for late April at all! Maybe the rain coming will turn them on since the temps won't be crashing this time?
I was only on the water for about 4 hours.

First off, per site rules this day was rated a 2, I was very happy with the outing!
Well, if you're only going to catch 1 bass in 5 hours it helps when it's an 8lber!! Fished lipless cranks, DT6's, Bomber cranks, drop-shot's, spinnerbaits, grubs, Senko's and jigs today, the pic tells what worked. It worked once and early in the trip.
The cool thing was looking down and watching this bass swimming behind my lure, then I stopped it and she did her part....7 feet from the boat! It was a good fight, couldn't force the issue as it was on 12lb test but she was hooked good so I didn't need to. She posed for a couple pics and swam away.
One other boat, a Skeeter, was out when I launched and when I left there were two. Didn't talk to any of them so don't know how they did? I never saw a smallie and didn't get any other bites...
Water temps ranged from 51-52.7*

Hitched up the boat after work to meet up with a buddy already on the lake. Decided to make a couple casts before I found him on the lake. Turns out that's all I needed. Second cast with a deep crank, super fast then a flat line stop and before I went half a reel on the go, Wham! Smashed! 18" Ditch pickle! I put her in the live well and went and found my buddy to boast!
After we yuk'd it up for a while we headed different directions on the lake. Couldnt put that crank down for a while after that second cast hawg! Got a couple of dinks on it and decided to work a rock slope with a tube jig. First cast huge hit, swing and a miss! Let the tube drop back down, got slurped up and I bought turned this dink inside out when I whacked it! He came to the boat like a cut-plug herring... Next cast, same spot and my drag starts peeling before my tube hits the bottom! Lets go! turns around, back at the boat and I'm reeling as fast as I can to pick the line up. Then she fanned up and I saw her! Monster! Got her in the boat and stuffed her in the livewell to boast even more to my buddy! He got to see her on his way out and I put the tape on her and let her go. 20"er! BaaaAAAm! 4.5lbs!!! Second that big in two weeks!
Fished for about an hour after that but the bite went flat. I wasn't even getting sniffed. But love me an 18 and 20 within 40 minutes of eachother! Wish it wasn't "the end" after that but it was. Fishin' buddy got a 14 and a 16.5 and some dinks. Another couple of good pickles.

Hit the lake about 8, meant to be there earlier but slept in a bit... Whoops. Started lookin' for ditch pickles with a deep crank, bull doggin' it through the shallow rocks. 'Bout the third cast a monster slurped it up and went flyin one way and my crank went flyin the other! Dangit! Got a 14" bouncing the crank off a down log about five minutes later, nothing special except that she had two monsters trailin' her as I cranked her in. I turned her loose and went back for the big two, but couldn't stirr'em up.
Time passed... Switched to a tube jig and had success pretty much anywhere I had the patience to work it real slow. I whacked my biggest ditch pickle of the year about halfway through the day. The bite was tricky, she slurped it up and swam right at me, I was lucky I figured out what was going on before she spit it! After a good fight, she came in the boat, wieghed in, smiled for a picture and back she went. 'Bout half hour later, 'bout 10 feet from that one I whacked an 18" pig! Then ditto that last sentence and I whacked a 16"er!!! So now I've got a spot on this lake I'll throw a thousand casts at every visit and won't even get sniffed I'm sure!
Left the lake about 1 and pretty pleased. 12 pickles total: 1 @20", 1@18", 2@16", 3@14" and about half the rest over 10" anyway. I give it 5 gold stars for monster I landed! The rest was bonus!

Launched at 7AM and trolled from the Wenberg Launch with a wedding ring and anise/corn and a 1 oz banana sinker. Spent 3 hours on trout and managed to hook up with 4 which we released--(OK, released one, and "remote released" 3!). The couple of trollers we talked to were having similar success. Talked to some "power-baiters" anchored in the middle, and they were having more action. We moved to the S end of the lake for bass and hooked up with 3 or 4 small LM's tossing plastics near the docks. Beautiful morning on the water.

Took the wife and 6 yr old grandson to Goodwin for his first trolling trip. Wasn't able to get to the lake until 11AM (like trying to herd cats), and ran into some guys at the dock who did well with wooley buggers behind brass/silver dodgers. I put down wedding rings tipped with anise scented corn with brass/silver dodgers and 1 oz banana weights flat trolled. Fishing was fairly consistent for 10-12" rainbows who provided great excitement. Hooked up to 5 in about 1 1/2 hours, by then the lunch was gone and it was time to do the next thing! Good Day!

my buddy got his bass boat in the water for the first time this year and we went to lake goodwin mostly to blow out the dust and check for bugs after some winter maintenance. of course i had to take some poles along for when he was checking out how his bow mount electric motor worked, lol. we actually only fished maybe for a couple hours, but i managed to pick up three feisty little trout that were all under 16". we released all of them unharmed. i know it's not much of a 'fishing' report, but we had a great time on the water on the first good day in a good while, and found out his boat ran great too...
