1st look at the lake this year. Lake looks clear trout are spunky and fat. Fishing lazy from shore. Fished for 3 hours, released 1, had to keep one too wounded to release and 2 strikes. Watched 2 tubers fishing my end of the lake and did not see anything pulled in.

Found out that there wasn't any work today so decided to grab the old lady and the dog and go fishing! We arrived at Anderson lake at about 10:00am fixed my gals line up with some green and red power eggs and before i could get my line fixed up she had one on, just your average plant bow trout but none the less she had one on within 5 min. After that we had a whole bunch of bites and bait stealers but didn't catch any more. The sun was out and there was about 20 people on the lake a rain cloud came in and my gal said it was time to go. We were there about a hour and a half . This lake is catch and release i think because of the algae in the late summer. When your in Jefferson county stop at Fat Smittys and get the special and tack a dollar to the wall. Its in the Discovery Bay junction.

Catch and release ONLY, barbless hooks. This hidden treasure is a Jefferson County Park! Pit toilet and a small picnic area. In Chimacum on SR 19, turn west onto West Valley Road (corner of Chimacum School and Tri-Area Community Center); proceed for 4 miles and watch for sign directing you to Jefferson County Park on Gibbs Lake Road.

Fishing was pretty slow for opening weekend standards but real nice fish none the less. All fish were 13-16", and they fought really well.
Didn't see anyone else touch a fish but we got 4 in 2 and a half hours.

Hit Anderson in the evening till dusk with my good fishin pals Katie {10 years old soon to be 11} and Jeff whose age is still undetermined, carbon dating doesn't go back that far!

Of course I won the "catch the first fish, win the candy bar" contest as I always do when Katie is fishing with me but she usually catches all the rest of the rainbows from that point on and I tease her some and then let her have the kitkat for herself. And she did haul in a lunker using her secret fly while casting her favorite fly rod with floating line.

The eagles at this lake are fun to watch too while there is little action.

Fishing has been very good on Anderson! The fish this year are larger than years past by at least an inch. People around the lake have complained one day and rejoiced the next. I have fished from shore and from boat. Most trout are about 12-13 inches but some hold-overs are running 19-22" Prospects are good for June. Crowds are small and fish nice size. I have been trolling flat fish and hooking up when others are not.

I got to Anderson Lake first thing in the morning. I've always been able to catch a lot of fish there, but not today. I was fishing with sherbet colored powerbait from the bank. I got 1 bite after fishing for about 2 hours so I left. I only saw 2 fish caught from another powerbaiter from shore. Pretty slow, but it will probably pick up once it gets a little warmer.
