Ok Ok Ok so 5 means alot of fish and a fantastic day but I labeled this a 5 even though I lost two jigs, one float, and a fly because I caught my first steelhead today!! After three years of trying I finally got it and I am pretty happy, it was a nice chrome hen about 8-10 pounds and was a native so she got revived and sent on her way but the fact that I finally did it made it a 5 star day for me!!

Fished the Lewis River Power Canal on the North Fork. 3 of us caught a total of 8 RT in about 3 hours. Pretty consistent bite for just about the entire time. Powerbait/Power Eggs worked well.

So I had wanted to hit the Chehalis this week but was talked into fishing the Lewis and glad we did! Started out at daybreak boondogging eggs near the hatchery and had pretty much not stop action with a limit of kings for everyone on the boat before noon with the biggest being mine pushing 35lb's!

So it was great to get out to fish the Lewis, until the local color showed it's teeth. So I was fishing float with a nightmare jig about three feet deep. No luck with the fish that were there today, saw quite a few swimming around and saw one turn to investigate but other then taht no luck. On a side note, can someone please educate me on the proper ettiquette to fishing with floats... is it ok to cast upstream when the guy fishing upstream from you is reeling in his float?? I think it is and to be honest I dont care if it is or not, but to avoid any more problems like I had today I would like to know from everyone else. Thanks!! And to the guy who decided he only knew swear words... I am not sorry I cast over you, you sorry snagger!!

I guess I'm the only one on here doing reports for the lewis and/or catching fish haha so here is another. Went out last week on the lewis for another good weekend of fishing. Out of all my buddies I had the best luck, and the worst luck. Ended up hooking over 12 fish, but only catching ONE. just an average 30 incher, about 9-10 pounds. Both of my buddies ended up catching one each that were 28 and 29 inches and about 8-9 pounds. saw a few other guys catch about 3 all weekend. Fish were mainly biting on all red jigs at all different depths. Water level was changing rapidly thought each day making it a bit harder to figure out what the fish were doing, and the dam continues to fluctuate its cfm's daily for some reason. That's all for now, planning on going out again next weekend and should have another report then.

Went out on the lewis this sunday for steelhead and what a day! Extravagant day on the water with my buddy and ended up hooking 7 fish.(noone else on the river hooked any) My buddy hooked 3 for the first time ever and ended up losing all, so of course I had to show him what's up by landing 2 out of 4 for my limit. One was 32 in. and about 10-11 lbs. and the other was a 36 in. 18-20 lb. beast! Went out again on monday at noon and hooked 3 catching 1 30 incher. Had an awesome time this weekend and hopefully I can get on the water a few more times before the run is over.

Went up to Eagle Cliff Bridge past Swift Reservoir early in the morning. Started with a pink and silver Blue Fox and caught two decent sized rainbows (10 in.). After a while that was working so well, so I put on a classic Panther Martin and caught another good sized rainbow. After that I tried a Wooly Bugger and caught two 17 inch rainbows on the downriver side of the bridge. Seven total that day. Good day and the area up there is really pretty.

So, it says it was a 5 fishing day... I only caught one fish but... it was my first keeper fish of the entire season and it was my first salmon... So for me it was a great day!! I made a ton of casts and was about to pack it in after 3 hours with one strike and made one more cast, The fish was about 28 inches long and maybe 9 pounds, I revived it after a great fight on my St. Croix Bass Mojo spinning rod. I was using 40 pound braid with a 20 pound flourocarbon leader and a 1/2 oz spoon with barbless hooks and rainbow colors. Fight was great and really got to show me what my St. Croix could do!! Epic day for me, Still looking to catch more fish than just one a day.

- For those who are going to say "Dont use braid in the river" I value your opinion but I will always use braid and it does not matter how many of you complain or tell me not to use it.

light rain, fished for about 3 hours. When I got to the hatchery, one of my friend was fishing. I asked him if he had any luck, he said he caught one earlier and released one. He does not time to time, just for the fun. After about an hour he hooked another one, and let me bring it in so that I can keep him. Almost three hours there he caught another one. I didn't see anybody else catch any, had five fishermen come and go and with no luck. because of my friend I was able to go home with a fish, it was around 7-9 lb fish, a lot of meat.
