Shopping For A Bait Caster Reel

yeah curados are nice but I love my revo but for $200+, it might be out of your price range. Black maxs, pinnacles, and culcuttas aren't bad. My first bait cast was a ambassadeur 5500, nice reel but I like smaller profile ones now.
I believe cabelas has some nice rod reel combos that are really affordable and good quality.

I have a Diawa Millionare 250, used once, that I didn't sell at the swap meet for $15. Nice reel I just don't have a use for it. But it is a right hand retrieve.

I'm with you all the way on that! Curados are nice but for the price there's a lot nicer out there. More and better bearings, more and better features and fit and finish, why would you paint a $200+ reel green? Urp... I don't need to pay for the name. Now if you want to talk Calcutta, there is a very nice reel!!! Now for spinners, I'll do a Shimano any day. Everything else I've tried has fallen apart after a couple years.

Now FB2 if you are truly constrained by budget, I'd start looking at round reels too. A nice lightly used 5500 or 6600 can cast a 1/4 oz lure and you can land a big King with it too. All in all a lot more versatile reel than a low profile. They hold plenty of line so you don't need to kill yourself running down stream or trolling. They're fine for fishing the Big C, Trolling or Hogline. If you want a lefty, that should be cheap on EBay and maybe find a new one too. I used a round reel for years and never found it to be a detriment in any way.

That's a very nice reel and only $15!!! It just goes to show how brain washed we get with all the bass pros and turny junkies using low profile rigs to toss 10 yrds or so and then yank the bass back to the boat on 50# test. Maybe CL or Ebay and you could get a better price for it.

cabellas ternament zx 2012 model..i got a catchcard full of springers on it and tons of steel . it weight 6oz metal frame 9 ball bearings 7.3 gear ratio external magnetic control. 79 bucks at cabellas lifetime warrenty no questions asked..closest reel weighing 6 oz cost 300plus dollars nuff said.

What do you mean you only have bass reels? A Curado is a bass reel. If you have one already, use that one while you save up for the big guys!

If your still looking for a rod. fetha styx is having a warehouse clearance sale this friday the 22nd and saturday the 23rd at their plant in redmond. theyre getting rid of alot of discontinued rods and marking them way down. good way to pick up a nice rod for a nice price.
