Automatic Bilge Pump

Postby Rimrockdave » Sat Jun 09, 2012 1:40 pm

I have a 1998 Tracker 175. The boat has rivets and leaks a bit. I would like to install an automatic bilge pump. has anyone done that and could answer some questions?

Thanks!

I have a boat that sits on the Lake from April thru October. As I am not there all the time, I installed an automatic bilge pump. It is the only way to go. If the boat takes on water, the floats will rise and pump it down. In the auto mode it will not clean it all out but enough so the boat stays floating. My boat is a 1957 RIVETED Crestliner and although I tried tightening all the rivets when I had her apart, it still leaks a little and when it rains in NE Washington we can get a lot of water in the boat. I have not had a problem in the last 5 years. As soon as I get to the Lake, I always fire the boat up and pump her out on the manual mode (you normally get a 3 position switch with them Auto/Off/Manual). I have let her go in the spring for 3 weeks and had no problem with it or the battery. [thumbup]
