best place to shore fish in the south sound/tacoma area?

Postby bel83 » Thu Sep 29, 2011 8:50 pm

Been a while since I have posted but I currently find myself with a good setup for shore fishing for salmon or whatever else bites. I am just not familiar with good places to go that I can cast and hope to hook into something, or at least not have a bad day of it. I live in puyallup so anything in the southsound/tacoma area is good. I am not into river/combat fishing no do I care much for fishing off of a dock or pier.

thoughts - ideas?

Yes! I couldn't agree more. I live in auburn and was wondering the same thing. I absolutely refuse to combat fish. I was thinking about heading to hood canal/dabob bay because I hear that the silvers are fat and very plentiful. I just don't know exactly where to go or what to use (buzz bombs and other jigs?). I also have a 12' aluminum boat and was thinking about taking it out on calm days in protected waters(bays/inlets). Anybody got any advice or good spots? Thanks in advance!

Last year I went out to the beach by Dash Point at dawn and fished the incoming tide. I did really well for silvers and pinks. I either used a spoon or a buzz bomb.....

Thanks nomas. I was just talking to a friend earlier today that said the same thing. Dash point/Browns point were pretty consistent for him. He also said that using the boat in front redondo would produce as well, but only time will tell. I'm just not sure when to head out there. I have read reports of some keepable kings starting to arrive and would like to get in on some of the action, but still a little skeptical cause it's still pretty early. Maybe in the next few weeks? We'll see, I will definitely post a report with my findings. Anybody else have any productive shore fishing spots?

Silvers are to be caught at dash point I been there and still go there for fishing. It may still be early for silvers right now. Pinks you will have to wait until next year to get fish and almost be guarantee a fish. best thing is to head down and check it out. usually August is a good time.

I live in Auburn so dash point is the closest for me to drive too as for I am always there.

That is where i go fishing as well, its slow all around there it seems, i have only heard of anything good sized being native, i see alot of people down at browns point fishing from shore when the tide is down, its worth a shot thats for sure, i did get a few bites in between redondo and browns, but no fish.
It wouldnt be called fishing unless you are always catching, best of luck!
