Lake Merwin in SW Washington

Its not a seceret lake but I have just gotten into fishing there for Kokanee. The Lake also holds Trout & Muskies.

I would really like to hear from anyone who has fished this lake & who could give me some tips!!

Ok..OK...I know that most guys/fisherman wont give up their Secerts but can anyone recommend a few GOOD Lakes for Trout & Kokanee in South West Washington & North West Oregon????

I am new to fishing & have a 16' fiberglass boat with troling motor & downrigger. I bought an older boat to see if I like it, so far I am having a real blast but I really would like to catch something!!

I don't do much of that kind of fishing, but if I were looking for Kokes and trout near Portland; I would try Timothy Lake near Mt. Hood.

Riffe Lake is possibly one of the best kokanee fisheries in the state. It is a lake that was formed from the Cowlitz River being dammed. This is the best SW Washington lake there is for Kokanee hands down. I fish Lake Keechelus on the top of Snoqualmie Pass and it is better than Riffe, but for SW Washington Riffe is the best.

If you go to the Lakes Index on this site (it is under Reports) and read both discriptions of Merwin you will find alot of information plus alot of fishing reports with fish pictures. I know Don and he always gives a very informative description of the lakes he fishes. We fish for Muskies and bass mostly so I can't help with what to use to catch koks but I think people in the fish reports were talking about what they use. Good luck.

merwin is very good the trout like rthe darker color spinners. swift one of the other resovoirs is great the canal and the lake are. its stocked with trout and has kokanee
