stupid question

Postby tallman8251 » Fri Jul 22, 2011 4:35 pm

Ok I have a dumb question. in my area the website says crabbing is allowed Thursday through Monday. Does this mean that we can crab on Mondays till dusk?

Thanks

Here is the pertinent wording straight out of the current regs: "No fisher may set, fish, or pull shellfish gear from a vessel, in Catch Record Card Areas 1-13, from one hour after official sunset to one hour before official sunrise. All shellfish gear must be removed from the water on closed days."

So your unattended gear needs to be out of the water one hour after sunset on Mondays. There several places to check when the sun sets on any given day, including the daily paper. You can still crab from the beach and the dock until midnight using star traps, crab rings, snares, chicken leg on a string, etc.
