Looking for a 5wt fly reel, med to better quality

Postby The Quadfather » Sun Jul 01, 2012 4:11 pm

Does anybody have a 5wt fly reel that they feel the need to unload? I need to put together one in the next few days. I was looking at the Pluegher Trion 1956:

I don't want a entry level reel, but I don't need to spend 300.00 either. If you are in the greater Seattle area or South of Tacoma, let me know. Or if you want to tell me what you like, that's good to hear as well. [thumbup]

I've been buying some of the Redington's in the $25-$30 range and they are a bargain at the price.

Bill, I've am actually replacing a Redington which I've had awhile. Can't recall the model #? It's frustrating but the actual reel has a bend/bump err?? I don't know what happened exactly. I have a couple extra spools with various line, but the reel they don't make anymore my fly shop tells me. I suppose I could find a matching main body/reel from Ebay, but I am going on a trip to Ferry county/Okanagon county next weekend. I plan on hitting the fly fishing hard this time, as I'm with a fly buddy.
If you have any Intel. on Swan lake, Ferry lake, or the chain of... Long lake and Fish lake, (The stream that connects them) This is the Ferry county Long lake, not Spokane's Long. Let me know if you know anything.
I hope retirement is allowing you to fish as much as you want!

Chris, I hope that all is well with you and the gang. You might want to try Ted's in the South Everett/Lynwood area. They used to have quite a collection of used gear and older product. Also I believe there is a used fishing gear/antique store in LaConner. Good luck in your search and have a great trip.

For usability and seviceability I think it's real hard to beat the Okuma Integrity. Reasonable price, fine workmanship and an excelent drag system. The drag is probably not so important with a 5wt but it has a nice big nob and is very granular. You could spend a lot more and get a lot less.
