When the new site upgrade goes on line, I will be writing a periodical fly fishing column, called Feathers To Fins. It would be most helpful if you could express what subjects of fly fishing interest you the most. Please take a moment and answer the poll questions and post any comments that you like. Since this site is possible because of member participation, I will also be including member guest writers from time to time. If this interests you, select it from the list of questions. For me all the subjects you mentioned would most helpful.I really like the idea of a site member writing it.Alsolake fly fishing topics would be great.Every now and then some featured patterns, rod building ideas since I make a few custom rods a year for friends and family.Nothing special just thoughtful gifts.Like now I'm making a 4wt rod wich pays respect to retiring Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren its Seahawk blue with that Seahawk green wraps, and the Seahawk emblem laser engraved on the wood insert of the reel seat.Basicaly if you write it on here I will be a faithful reader.Sounds like a great idea Marc. Can't wait for the first column.

Of all the poll questions I think Entomology(local insects, what waters have what bugs and hatch when), Patterns, river and lake fishing interest me the most. Gear is gear, the only way to find out about rods is to go cast them 'cause opinions on rods vary greatly. Also a section on streamers and matching baitfish in a river and lake system as related to fly choice and colors would be a good read.

For a lot of years now, I've been most interested in streams and rivers. However, lately my wading has taken on the appearance of a drunk trying to walk on ball bearings. So, I'm most interested in lake and pond fishing. What bugs to use and what techniques. Count on me for an article or two.

I agree with all of the above. There is something about fly fishing, It seems (feels) so elemental and natural. I am still in my infancy in fly fishing and any info is good info.

I like to learn about new fly patterns even though I tie more jigs than flies. Many of the materials and techniques crossover nicely into jig tying. There are many commercial jig offerings these days that started as flies. Examples include "candy" jigs (spun dubbing bodies), wooly buggers, zonkers, dingleberrys, and bead jigs.

At last when I spoke with Aaron, he said the end of May. He has been full throttle in putting it together, yet there is a lot more to be done. Many of the improvements are quite time consuming. He has a monumental job. He formats it, I road test it and then we move on to the next. Please be patient, the wait will be worth it. My intent is to cover all levels of fly fishing, the beginner, intermediate and the well seasoned fly fisherman. I would like to strike a balance within all skill levels. There truly is something special about fly fishing, perhaps magical. I would enjoy seeing more readers involved in the sport and getting that same "feeling". Marc - I was ready to vote for a number of topics. The post only allowed for one unless I went back thru the entire process which I did not try. Many of the topics you intially chose are of interest, at least to me, maybe others would have the same thoughts.

Hi Marc,
I voted for one, but could have done a top 5 count down just as well. (LOL)
I don't see a bad catagory in the list.
Too much water, too many fish, too little time.

These results are quite helpful. Are there any more suggestions? Forum Moderator East Side Lake Video Producer Staff Writer/"Feathers To Fins"www.kandbremodeling.comWhen It Comes Down To It.... It Is Really Up To The Fish

I guess if you don't mind explaining things in depth. I started fly-fishing when I was around 10-12.But put the rod down for a number of years. In the last 2 years I've picked it up and thought I was doing well but realized when I'm around other fly-guyz, In all honesty I have no idea whats going on. I would consider myself about 2 hairs above a begginer. Maybe add some pictures in there too so my tiny brain can try to figure it out. Off Topic-If you wouldn't mind letting me know how the pike and muskie fly-fishing works out. I really want to try this.

Nothing is more frustrating and boring for a beginner to read something that they don't understand. I plan on trying to balance out the articles for both the beginner and experienced fly fisherman. For some of the well seasoned fly casters, some of the articles will be elementary. There has been quite a bit of interest in starting fly fishing discussed on the forum. I would like very much to help these people out. Someone taught me many years ago and I want to pass on my knowledge. The wonderful thing about the sport is that it is constantly evolving. Each year there are new techniques, patterns and equipment. Since I by far don't know all about fly fishing, researching information for some of the articles will in itself be educational.
