It's finally over. Time to rally 'round the flag pole. Let us all put our differences aside, and support our new leadership. Unity is THE most important thing in this nation now. Let's all join together and honor all those who ran for office. They all have the gumption to do something to better what we have and where we live. Differences aside, it's time for a fresh start. GOD BLESS AMERICA

Its opportunity time for people to put the bickering and divisiveness aside.
Campaigns are used to divide people, put them in boxes, and use them for votes. To make you choose based on this issue or that.
NOW is the time for people to work toward a common goal. My fear is that people will harbor the agressively vicious attacks from both sides, holding them over the head of the president elect, when they could be spending their time figuring out how best to work WITH him to succeed at a common solution. We can fix things like Social Security and the current budgetary crisis if we work together, instead of saying this candidate hates my guns or wants me to suckle at the teet of the government.
Climbing over those walls is the single most important thing to get our country back to where it was in the prosperous and productive times after WW2, where our world was building and creating great things for our great country.

I realize that for some the election did not turn out the way you wanted. I have seen a few things in the last few days that I have never seen before with an elected official. One is that the President Elect has set up a web site for the American people to send in their comments and suggestions to be reviewed. Not the usual government/congressional website. http://change.gov/This is the first candidate that has used the internet to it's fullest potential. On the home page, scroll down to where it says It’s Your America: Share Your Ideas. The site is new, only a couple of days old so some of the sections are blank. As the administration grows, they will be posting more. I think that he will at least try to maintain a degree of communication with the citizens. It is a positive start. E So you mean to tell me that all of a sudden after your candidate has won, NOW is the time for everyone to pull together? Did you honestly work WITH George W. Bush to succeed at a common solution?

I can honestly say yes. When both houses of congress carried a dem majority, it wasn't a stone wall built against the president. Much policy was written, very little of it was vetoed. This was both sides of the aisle giving way to compromise. The war was funded fully, and energy policy was still run in his appalingly greedy fashion. You didn't see impeachment, you didn't see complete unrest or major filibustering, you saw the bodies moving as best they could to the middle ground (though obviously the secrecy of the administration didn't allow the free movement of information which stymied several powerful bills).
My point with that statement, however, wasn't about what happened in the previous administration. It had more to do with healing the wounds developed during a brutal campaign where one candidate brought out policy change ideas and mobilizing people, and the other spent over 75% of its time attempting to campaign solely on the character of the candidate and not their own policy.
Please understand that this isn't a right or left issue. There is no veto-proof majority. People need to stop thinking about how they were upset in the past by something they were told (Obama will take your guns) and start realizing that its representative government, not dictatorial leadership. Push back the feelings that "he can't be trusted" and remember that you elected 535 other people who are the actual legislators, who form policy, and who are the ones that truly carry the power and the burden of governing this amazing country.
